Brinda Karat hails Jaya's stand on FDI

CPM Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat hailed Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for her firm and consistent opposition to FDI in retail.

She was addressing a meeting organised by the CPM’s Madurai Urban district committee here on Wednesday. She also criticised the DMK’s ambiguous stance on the issue and declared that the people would give a fitting reply to those parties that supported FDI. She also claimed that other parties had adopted a double-stand on FDI.

She claimed that the magic stick of the UPA was the CBI.  She said that there were reports that Walmart had spent `125 crore to win a confidence motion in the House. She said that two lakh farmers had committed suicide and the remaining would now be affected by the ‘FDI bulldozer’. She warned that MNCs would destroy job opportunities and added that Left parties and traders’ associations would intensify their struggle against FDI.
