Puducherry: 7-day Assembly session sought

AIADMK state secretary A Anbazhagan MLA on Saturday urged chief minister N Rangasamy to conduct the winter session of legislative assembly, beginning on December 28, for at least seven days.

Anbazhagan said there were several public issues that needed to be addressed in the Legislative Assembly and hence convening the house for just one day, as a mere formality, was not acceptable.

On the issue of direct benefit cash transfer of the central government, Anbazhagan  criticised Rangasamy for not objecting to the scheme, and implementing it, even without discussing it in the assembly. It would severely affect the poor people, he maintained.

In another event when the centre had reduced the allocation of kerosene to UT from 1,352 kl to 350 kl, even then the CM remained mum, Anbazhagan pointed out.
