In her letter to the PM, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa wrote that Arasu Cable’s application was still pending after it had applied for a DAS license with Union I and B ministry on 5.7.2012 though the ministry had issued licenses to 9 other operators in TN.
Saying that the digitisation of cable TV distribution had to be done within a stipulated time period, the CM said she had sent party delegations to meet the PM and the former and current Union Broadcasting Ministers on the issue.
Her letter also noted an order passed by the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court that a licence may be issued to Arasu Cable.
