Unlicensed dyeing units dismantled

Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) officials dismantled 11 unlicensed dyeing units at Erode  on Monday.

A team, led by district engineer Goalakrishanan and assistant engineer V Swaminathan, visited Sudhanandan Nagar, Anaikattu area and  Surampatti where they found a five dyeing units functioning without licence. Three more units each at Choolai and Kollampalayam were also spotted during the raid. All the units were razed down by the team.

Power supply to all the units had already been disconnected as they were functioning without licence. Despite this, the units were manually operated. After the present operation, the unit holders had fled the place,  Swaminathan said.

During the past two years, the TNPCB had demolished over 150 dyeing, bleaching and processing units that were functioning without licence in Erode and surrounding areas, he added.
