Two arrested for poaching birds

Wild life officials detained two persons for poaching migratory birds at Venkulam village tank near Devipattinam on Wednesday.

Official sources said during a surprise check at Venkulam area, they intercepted Sellaiah and his son Ganesan who were on a two wheeler with a gunny bag. The officials intercepted them and found 14 live female gargany birds (Anasquerquedula) and seized their catch and the two wheeler.

They were produced before the wild life warden and imposed a fine of Rs 29,000 for poaching migratory birds.
