Kin refuse to accept boy’s body

Tension gripped Chidambaram after post-mortem was conducted on the body of the 20-year-old Dalit college student who went missing on December 12 and was found  murdered on Wednesday. Relatives of the boy refused to accept the body and they, along with VCK members, resorted to an agitation in front of the GH, on Thursday. Protestors condemned the alleged murder of the boy and shouted slogans seeking justice. 

North zone IG Kannappan and Cuddalore SP Radhika camped at Chidambaram to monitor the law and order situation. The boy’s body would be taken to his village, Senninatham on Friday. Police arrested Kanagavalli (70), grandmother of the girl, whom the boy was in live with, in Bharathurchavadi near Chidambaram on Thursday.  Police said Kanagavalli was remanded. “We suspect the hand of four more people in the murder and are on the lookout for the culprits,” the police added.

Police told Express, “We got the details of  the telephonic conversations between the boy and the girl. . We have been investigating through all the angles. We will arrest the murderers very soon.”
