Collector summons Ramadoss

Collector Anshul Mishra on Saturday issued summons to PMK leader S Ramadoss for speaking against inter-caste marriages, thereby disturbing the peace and tranquility in Madurai.

“It has come to my knowledge that you have made statements against inter-caste marriages against a particular community... Why can’t you be prohibited from entering Madurai district,” he asked in the summons. Mishra pointed out that Ramadoss had reportedly said that such marriages were “fraudulent alliances” planned at the behest of Dalit leaders.

“You have made remarks which are likely to incite violence in this district, which a very sensitive place with regards to caste-related matters; it is also reported that you have proposed a statewide protest on January 24, 2013 which may cause disturbance to public tranquility,” he said.

“If he fails to appear, we will initiate criminal action under Section 187 of CRPC,” added the collector.
