Welfare assistance worth Rs 15 lakh disbursed to 387 beneficiaries

As many as 387 beneficiaries from Mecheri, Arumbakkam and Anathangal villages in Arcot taluk received welfare assistance to the tune of Rs 15 lakh from Collector Shankar at the special mass contact programme organised on Wednesday.

Collector Shankar  urged the people to make use of the government schemes being implemented by the district administration. He handed over an educational assistance of Rs 1.76 lakh to 90 students, school uniforms worth Rs 26,000 to 130 children, under the aegis of Adiparasakthi Educational Trust, Kalavai. He received around 120 petitions from the villagers and inaugurated an exhibition put up by the Department of Information and Public Relations.

Local MLA V K R Srinivasan was the special invitee on the occasion. Ranipet RDO Muthukumaran, Arcot panchayat union chairman Kutti and other officials from various departments were present.
