According to sources, a team of forest officials led by Morappur Ranger S Munusamy was patrolling in the reserve forest area on Saturday night. While crossing Kandankipatti forest, they noticed thick smoke emanating from the area.

When the officials went to the spot, they found two persons cooking boar meat. They arrested the two S Ilavarasan (38) and R Chidambaram (41) of Kandankipatti and produced them before the Harur divisional forest officer Senbagamurthy and were later handed over to the Morappur police.

Meanwhile, the carcass of an eight-year-old male elephant was found in Bhavanisagar forests on Saturday. Veterinary doctors who examined the elephant said the tusker died of ailment.
