DMK workers detain DVAC sleuths

DMK functionaries on Saturday locked around 15 policemen belonging to the Vigilance and Anti Corruption wing inside former Minister I Periyasamy’s house at Govindapuram here on Saturday.

Periyasamy was not present in the house when the party members locked the policemen inside. They were released only after the intervention of party advocates.

According to sources, a team of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) police landed up at Periyasamy’s house on Saturday morning. But before the police could arrive, a good number of party cadre had already gathered outside his house.

The DMK men demanded documents like court order or arrest warrant for the DVAC sleuths to enter Periyasamy’s house at Govindapuram. The police personnel had to force their way in, said the police source.

Outraged, the party cadre locked the police personnel inside the house for about half-an-hour.
