Jayalalithaa’s visit to Delhi also assumes significance in the wake of the forthcoming Presidential elections.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik have proposed the name of the former Lok Sabha Speaker, P A Sangma, for the highest office of the country and also spoken to many national leaders requesting them to support the leader belonging to a tribal community.

Last week, when reporters asked her whether she had got any assurance from leaders of political parties on supporting Sangma, she said:  “I have made a request to the leaders whom I know well. I prefer to wait and watch the developments.”
