Bombs hurled at accused

Three persons allegedly involved in Pasupathi Pandian’s murder sustained injuries after an unidentified person hurled an explosive on the car they were travelling in, near Thadikombu in Dindigul district.

Three persons allegedly involved in Pasupathi Pandian’s murder sustained injuries after an unidentified person hurled an explosive on the car they were travelling in, near Thadikombu in Dindigul district on Monday.

Apart from the trio, the car driver sustained grievous injuries and is being treated at GRAI. However, the accused sustained minor injuries and were undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Madurai.

According to police, Batcha alias Madasamy (30), Sannasi (35) and Natarajan (35), all native of Mugavur near Srivilliputhur, were travelling in a rented car driven by Vasudevan (54) on Monday, after signing the records at Thadikombu police station.

The trio is on bail in the Devendirar Kootaippu president Pasupathy Pandian’s murder case. As the car reached two kilometres away from Thadikombu, an unidentified person who was hiding under the bushes reportedly hurled a bomb on the car, which fell on its bonnet.

The explosion blew the windshied of the car resulting in serious injuries to Vasudevan. After the explosion, the trio reportedly sped the car away and reached a police check post on Dindigul-Palani Road.

From there, they were brought to Madurai in an ambulance. Vasudevan was undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit of Madurai Rajaji Hospital and the others were admitted to a private hospital.
