MK may meet Arumugam

DMK chief M Karunanidhi is likely to meet the party’s Salem district secretary, Veerapandi S Arumugam, at the Vellore Central Prison.

Arumugam is presently lodged there after being arrested on charges of abetment and conspiracy in setting fire to the hutments in Angaammal Colony in North Salem, said DMK Treasurer M K Stalin.

Stalin met Veerapandi Arumugam on Friday. He was accompanied by senior party leaders, Durai Murugan, K Ponmudi, Vellore district secretary R Gandhi and Veerapandi Arumugam’s son, Raja.

Claiming the case filed against Arumugam to be false and fabricated, he said, “Jayalalithaa’s Government is continuing to file false cases against the party cadre of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. The case against the party’s Salem district secretary is one among them.”
