CID to probe Mahe fake notes

The CID wing of the Puducherry police on Monday began an investigation into the fake Indian currency notes seized in Mahe on Saturday.

The Mahe police had arrested Tajudeen, a resident of Kannur district in Kerala, and had seized fake currency with a face value of `1.82 lakh from him. They will also probe Tajudeen’s connections with Inaam, a Pakistani national working in Oman.

According to sources, the Kerala police and intelligence bureau were also informed about the fake currecny racket.

Meanhile, SP (Mahe) V Deivasigamani, convened a meeting of the bar, petrol pump owners on Monday to alert them about the possibility of  fake currency notes being circulated and were asked to intimate the police immediately about fake notes, if they received any.

It may be noted that five persons, Feroze, Tajudheen, Sulaf,Ummer, and Rayees were so far arrested in connection with the seizure.
