The Madurai Bench of the High Court on Monday directed the Tuticorin Multipurpose Social Service Society to respond to a show-cause notice issued by the FCRA wing under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Maria Valan, the secretary and chief functionary of Catholic Bishop’s House in his petition said that with the deadline for the explanation set at May 15, 2012, the petitioner has expressed his inconvenience stating that the president/bishop of the society was out of the country on a religious mission and that the reply could be given only after the bishop’s return. Justice K Venkataraman refused to quash the order of the FCRA and directed the society to respond to the show-cause notice.
