The local unit of AIADMK on Wednesday urged the Puducherry government to set up a monitoring committee to ensure that the self-financing colleges charged only the fee fixed by the Committee on Fixation of Fee in Respect of Self-Financing Professional Colleges.
Addressing a press conference in Puducherry on Wednesday, A Anbazhagan, Member of the Legislative Assembly and secretary of local unit of AIADMK, said the government should make it clear when and how much fee would be remitted to the students under the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Financial Assistance Scheme.
He said that 75 professional college students had to discontinue their studies in the last five years as the government had failed to provide the fee reimbursement that it had promised to them.
The Memeber of the Legislative Assembly and secretary of the local unit of the AIADMK alleged that regional reservation in professional colleges was against the Constitution and wanted it to be scrapped.
He also said that the All India N R Congress (AINRC) government had “paralysed” governance here and the Lieutenant governor should take appropriate measures.
