5 suspended in custodial death case

T Jayachandran, SP, Dindigul suspended five policemen, involved in the alleged custodial death of a Dalit mill worker near Dindigul recently.Raja (27) of Chellayipuram, who was employed in a textile mill near his village, was picked up by a special team of the Dindigul police on June 7 for interrogation in connection with a robbery case. Police said, Raja was first taken to the Dindigul station and then shifted to Vedasandoor in a van. On the way, Raja tried to escape and fell down from the van.

After he was caught and put back, he complained of uneasiness. So cops took him to the Vedasandoor hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. His relatives alleged custodial violence. The suspended cops are, SI Ramesh Khanna, SSI Subramani, head constables Singarayar, Nataraja Perumal and Muruganandam.
