After internet auction of 51 arrack shops began on Monday, 49 are already sold out, including nine arrack shops in Ariyankuppam Commune, 18 in Bahour and 24 in Mannadipet.
Two shops of Mulladoi in Bahour Commune and Suthukeny in Mannadipet Commune are still left.
In fact, most shops had been auctioned out at rates more than 10 to 20 per cent above the upset price (minimum price at which the auction is supposed to start), while a shop had been auctioned for more than 300 per cent, Deputy Collector Excise S.Rajamanicam told Express.
The arrack shop in Kumudanmedu in Bahour Commune had gone for `20.25 lakhs whose upset price was `8.83 lakhs.
Similarly Soriyankuppam arracK shop, also in Bahour Commune, had yielded `17 lakhs as compared to upset price of `10 lakhs.
Tomorrow 50 arrack shops under Puducherry Municipality limits, Oulgaret Municipality limits, Nettapakkam commune and Villianure commune would be taken up.
Auction for the 29 arrack shops in Karaikal region would be taken up on June 20.
It may be noted that the auction slated to be held last week was canceled due to technical error in the server of AuctionIndia.
