Days after a woman, whose 11-year-old daughter was allegedly raped by a building contractor, was arrested in connection with the case, the accused, Ravi, was nabbed by police on Monday.

Ever since the case, in which the minor was allegedly raped with the consent of her mother, came to light following the woman’s arrest on Thursday, police were on the lookout for Ravi, who went absconding.

On Monday, Ravi was nabbed by police from a lodge in Sucheendrum, Kanyakumari district.

He was subsequently brought to Madurai and sent to judicial custody.

Police said Ravi was involved in a construction work near the house of the victim’s mother.

A few months ago, Ravi developed an extra marital relationship with the woman. Recently, he raped her 11-year-old daughter, allegedly with the consent of the woman, who was seven months pregnant at the time. The victim has been placed under the care of the Social Welfare Department and Red Cross Society, Madurai branch.

According to Red Cross Society (Madurai branch) secretary Gopalakrishnan, the girl told them that she was raped several times by Ravi.
