M M Basheer of Vaniyambadi, president of the Palar Protection People Movement, has urged the district administration to revive the Kathanai Konar reservoir at Thumberi village.
In a memorandum submitted to the District Collector Ajay Yadav, he pointed out that the reservoir built in 1994 did not receive adequate water inflow and needed desilting operations.
Basheer has requested the Collector to personally inspect the reservoir site and expedite the revival work. If completed before the onset of the monsoon, it would greatly benefit the people in and around Vaniyambadi, the octogenarian added.
