Truckers warn Kerala of boycott

Truckers have issued a warning to the Kerala government that they would halt transporting even essential goods, to the state if it failed to give up the dam project across the Siruvani River.

The president of the State Federation of Lorry Owners Associations-Tamil Nadu K Nallathampi, issued a statement here on Saturday appealing to the Kerala government to shun the dam project across the Siruvani and the check dam across Bhavani River, as these projects will prove “detrimental to the welfare of the farmers in the bordering district of Tamil Nadu.”

“If the government fails to give up the projects, we will have no other option but to stop transporting goods, including essential commodities, to Kerala,” the president warned.
