Over 24,500 aspirants appeared for the written test conducted by the police department on Sunday for recruiting second grade constables in Vellore Range.
The test was conducted at VIT University, Voorhees College, DMK College and Vallal N Krishnasamy Mudaliyar Senior Higher Secondary School in Vellore. Of the total 17,959 enrolled candidates, as many as 16,850 aspirants appeared for the exam.
In Tiruvannamalai, out of 8,520 aspirants, 7,983 appeared for the exam in the district.
A total of 750 police personnel including five DSPs and 28 inspectors of police were deployed at the examination centres to ensure free and fair examinations. Joint Commissioner of Police (North Chennai) N K Senthamarai Kannan, who inspected the examination centres in Tiruvannamalai said that the test was conducted peacefully.
