'Parcel' trio sent to Puzhal

Following the seizure of a huge parcel containing banned items from the Coimbatore Central Prison, three of the inmates have been shifted to the Puzhal prison near Chennai.

“An Intensive Reform Block (IRB) has been setup in the Puzhal prison. Under the initiative, those prisoners who are found often disregarding the rules will be taught meditation and other techniques to reform themselves,” said ADGP S K Dogra.  Three prisoners - S Hakkim, 32, M Hakkim alias Anwar, 30, and A Ibrahim, 34 were held for  assaulting and intimidating prison officers while conducting a search after the parcel was discovered.  The trio was shifted on early Friday to the Puzhal prison, officials said.

However, he indicated that the suspended warders might be allowed to join the duty with a less stringent punishment.
