TIRUCHY:  The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) on Wednesday demanded that the bonus ceiling should be removed, at its 25th State conference here. A resolution to this effect was passed at the third and final day of the conference.

At present the ceiling to calculate bonus for workers was `3,500. This will mean that the maximum bonus amount would not cross ` 8,400. Hence, the ceiling should be removed to facilitate workers to get their rightful share of the profit, the resolution said.

At present, the Minimum Wages Act should be amended to fix the minimum salary as `10,000 per month as the prices of essential items were rising. The gratuity amount should be fixed as 30 days salary per year instead of 15 days, it said.  Meanwhile, G Kalan was re-elected as the State president of INTUC at the conference and he was also authorised to appoint other office-bearers.
