VELLORE: Nine staff and faculty members of VIT University were given a fond farewell as they retired from their services upon superannuating (65 years for faculty members and 62 for staff members) at a function held at the university campus here on Monday. The retiring members were Dr M Adithan, director, Academic Staff College; Dr V Somaraju, senior professor, School of Advanced Sciences; S Viruthambal, assistant registrar; B Thulasi Ram B, additional controller of examinations; P Azhagar, tradesman (SG), School of Mechanical and Building Sciences, and security guards C Subramani, B Doss, N Purushothaman, and driver T Manickam. They were accompanied by their family members on the occasion.

VIT chancellor G Viswanathan thanked the retiring members for their untiring services. He also handed over their gratuity fund and other benefits.
