CHENNAI: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should sack Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, alleging Chidambaram was the most corrupt minister in the Union Cabinet. Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Swamy charged that the company owned by Chidambaram’s son Karti benefited from clearance by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) which cleared a proposal to acquire shares from Aircel.

Swamy said he would be filing an interlocutory appeal with the Apex Court on July 17 to expand the scope of the investigation into the Aircel-Maxis deal beyond former Telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran. “The CBI had been going slow on former minister Dayanidhi Maran because he may the spill beans on Chidambaram’s involvement in the Aircel-Maxis deal scam,” he observed.

He added that he had got additional material against Maran in the Aircel-Maxis deal which would be presented before the Apex court along with his petition.
