PUDUCHERRY: Personnel of the traffic police were subjected to medical examination at the Pondicherry Institute Medical Sciences Hospital, Kalapet, on Monday.
A team of doctors screened the police personnel for respiratory and other health problems such as blood pressure and diabetes. This was necessary as these men were constantly exposed to carbon monoxide emitted from vehicles while on duty. Twenty-three police personnel, including top officers, were subjected to lung function test, blood test, ECG, X-ray and the facilities were extended to them by the PIMS free of cost. The medical tests would continue for the next five days.
