PUDUCHERRY/VRIDDHACHALAM: Two private buses were found burnt at their waiting sheds at 100 Feet Road on Monday morning. A driver who was resting nearby noticed the flames and managed to take out one of the buses from the shed even though it was partially burnt. However, the other bus was fully burnt. Mudaliarpet police have filed a case following a complaint. It may be recalled that a man was run over by a bus belonging to the same private bus operating company a couple of days ago.

Woman Killed

A 55-year-old woman was allegedly murdered at Ko Mavidanthal on Sunday night by unidentified persons. Police identified the victim as Syamaladevi. Her granddaughter’s wedding was scheduled to be held on Wednesday at Cuddalore. Police registered case and began investigation.

Abducted child rescued

A one-and-half-year-old child was abducted from Vazhakulam area when he went out with his grandfather. Police said that Chandrasekhar was lured by the abductor who came on a motorcycle. Introducing himself as a friend of his son to the grandfather and took the child on his moped. When he did not return, the relatives raised a hue and cry and lodged a complaint with the police. The abductor took the child’s silver anklets away and left him near Kennedy Garden. Police found the child and handed him over to his family. The abductor is still at large.
