PUDUCHERRY:  The path to success for Puducherry region’s Class XII topper among government schools, V Nithiya was not entirely a bed of roses.

Nithiya, who scored a stunning 1,130 aggregate, had to fight all odds to achieve this victory. After her father’s death, Nithiya’s mother Rasambal started working as a domestic help to meet her daughter’s education expenses. Nithiya, who is the youngest of the three daughters, did not belie her mother’s expectations.

The Thiruvalluvar Government Higher Secondary School student now aims to pursue a career in chartered accountancy, after completing a graduation in corporate secretaryship.

Nithiya said her mother, who toiled hard to see her daughter secure a good future, wanted her to continue her studies against all odds. “Come what may, I will continue with my studies to fulfil my mother’s dream”, Nithiya said.

Adityan of VOC Government HSS came second among government school students and S Kishore came in the third position.
