DHARMAPURI: As many as 15 persons, including three children, were killed when the lorry in which they were travelling overturned near Mahendramangalam in Palacode taluk on Sunday. According to police, the lorry carrying mangoes from Palacode was proceeding to Krishnagiri with around 45 agricultural labourers, including 15 children, who were seated atop the load. Near Thimmarayanahalli village, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. All the occupants were trapped underneath the lorry.
On information, a team of policemen and Fire and Rescue Service personnel rushed to the spot and recovered 12 bodies, of which 10 have not been identified. The injured were rushed to the Government Hospital in Krishnagiri. Dharmapuri Collector Lilly, Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Singh and MLA KP Anbazhagan called on the injured at the hospital.
