MADURAI: The city crime branch have arrested three persons for allegedly cheated a Bangalore-based business woman to the tune of `13 lakh here on Tuesday.

The police arrested Karuppasamy (48), his brother Manikandan (32) and their aide Rajaram (47) of Vadipatti for allegedly cheating Sujatha (34), a Bangalore-based business woman.

Sujatha, who runs a marriage consultancy centre, was in need of money to extend her business. When she browsed the Internet for financiers, she found the phone numbers of Karuppasamy and two others.

She contacted them and they promised her to arrange a loan for `2 crore and demanded a commission of Rs 25 lakh. Sujatha agreed to pay `17 lakh as commission and paid `13 lakh as advance. After receiving money, the three accused reportedly did not respond to her mobile calls. Based on a complaint, the police arrested them.
