All colleges in the State, which were closed 20 days ago following widespread anti-Sri Lankan protests by students, are set to reopen on April 3 following directions from the government.
Officials at the Higher Education Department told Express that the decision on reopening the institutions was taken on Monday after discussions with Vice Chancellors and colleges heads.
“If we delay it anymore, it will affect the examination schedule adversely. So we have decided to go ahead with the reopening,” said the official.
Anna University put out a press release stating there would be no change in the examination schedule of the University. “We have allowed the colleges to engage extra hours and work on weekends,” said P Kaliraj, Vice Chancellor of Anna University.
