A 35-year-old man climbed a cell phone tower at Aranthangi near here on Monday, demanding permission to write the SSLC exam at a scheduled centre.

He was to appear for the exam as a private candidate, but officials at the centre did not permit him, since his name was not found on their list. Later, it was found that his name was deleted due to technical errors.

Sources said he climbed the cell phone tower  at Aranthangi, in protest against the officials refusal. Following an assurance from the police that steps will be taken to solve the problem, he came down.
