Keralite youth dies in mishap

A Keralite student, P Deepak (20), of Thaliparambu in Kannur district, was killed when when a speeding car hit the motorbike on which he was riding pillion on Thursday evening. Deepak is an engineering student in a self-financing college near Rasipuram.

Police said that J Dinesh (20) of Moovattupuzha, Ernakulam district, who was driving the vehicle escaped with injuries. Dinesh has been admitted to a private hospital in Salem.

The students were going towards their residence in V Nagar, Rasipuram when the accident took place. The incident occurred on the National Highway-7 near the Ayacoil Branch Road.

A police team led by Rasipuram Inspector (in charge) K M Manoharan went to the spot and held inquiries. The car (KL01 BH 8460), which fled the scene soon after hitting the students’ bike, was intercepted at the Omalur toll plaza, the police said.

The Rasipuram have registered a case and are conducting further inquiries.
