Confusion prevailed at the Tirupur GH for sometime after a 18-year-old woman, who handed over her six-month-old baby girl to a relative for adoption due to poverty, lodged a complaint of child abduction.
Sources said that on Friday around 10 am, the staff of Tirupur head quarters government hospital were shocked, when a woman claimed that her six-month-old baby girl was abducted by a woman.
The complainant, Parveen (18) hailing from Poolavari Sugumar Nagar, said, “I brought my baby to the hospital for treatment. While awaiting the doctor, I handed over the kid to a woman and asked to keep it till I return from toilet. When I returned, the woman had escaped with the baby.”
As the woman had not registered her name for consultation, the staff grew suspicious. A team from the Tirupur South police station rushed to the spot and held an inquiry with Parveen.
Inquiries revealed that she was married to Jamaludeen of Tirupur and was recently divorced. After a few hours of inquiry she admitted to have handed over the child to her aunt from Coimbatore for adoption.
