Noon meal workers to meet Jayalalithaa

Tamil Nadu Nutritious Meal Employees’ Association will gather near MGR Samadhi in Marina Beach and march to the secretariat to petition the Chief Minister on various demands including a pay hike on May 7. Around a lakh members are expected to be part of the gathering. The decision to meet the CM was taken at the state executive meeting held in the city on Friday. The association has also planned to stage protests across the State.

K Palanisamy, State president of the association said that their wages should be fixed according to the recommendations made in the Sixth Pay Commission. “We want the government to increase our pension amount.  All our demands should be met in the ongoing Assembly session’’, he said.
