The Highway Patrol team conducting checks between Paratharami and Katapdi, intercepted the bus plying between Gudiyattam and Kothur in Chittoor at Ramalai near Partharami around 4 pm on Thursday. They found about 600 kg of rice in 25 bags. They immediately alerted the Civil Supplies CID, who in turn rushed to the spot and seized the rice rice and confiscated the bus.
A case was registered under the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act 1955 and the arrested were remanded to prison.
