Tension gripped Tiruchengode for a while after a group of pro-Tamil students locked the main gate of the head post office while former Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare S Gandhiselvan was addressing a function organised to mark the inauguration of a railway reservation counter on Friday.
Shouting slogans against the Centre on the Sri Lankan Tamil’s issue, the students squatted on Tiruchengode-Kumarapalayam Road disrupting traffic for about an hour after locking the Gandhiselvan inside the post office, sources said.
