The Joint Federation of AFT Workers decided to organise an agitation on April 10 to press for the re-opening of the Anglo-French Textile Mills here. They also sought disbursement of salary for the last 11 months.

One of the leaders of the Federation, Nagarathinam, said the AFT workers who are not members of trade unions affiliated to political parties, met at the botanical garden here on Sunday and decided to hold a protest.

The workers decided to carry an effigy of the management, responsible for the bad state of  the mill, through the streets of Puducherry before burying it in a cremetorium. It may be recalled that the management of the mill had decided to further extend the leave for the employees till the middle of this month.
