The Tamil Nadu government will move the Supreme Court against the Karnataka government over the construction of a reservoir across the inter-State river Pennaiyar.
Replying to the issue raised by the DMK, PMK and CPM in the Assembly, PWD Minister KV Ramalingam said that the Chief Minister had already issued directions to this effect. He assured that the government would not compromise on its rights over any inter-State water disputes.
He said that the State had received information that Karnataka government had started works on an irrigation scheme and construction of a new reservoir across Pennaiyar, without getting the consent of the former.
