Actor Anjali kidnapped, claims aunt

In a fresh twist in the actress Anjali case, Bharathi Devi, the aunt of the actress, on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the Chennai police alleging that Anjali could have been kidnapped.

Bharathi Devi alleged that she had adopted the actress from her elder sister Parvathy Devi. The actress went to Hyderabad with my husband Surya Babu on March 31 and had stayed in Daspalla Hotel. On April 8, Anjali suddenly went missing, the aunt claimed in her complaint.

Meanwhile, her brother Ravi Shankar, who lodged a missing complaint with the Jubilee Hills police, sought to withdraw it on Wednesday, after he reportedly received a call from her.  She reportedly told him to withdraw the case as “no one had kidnapped her.”

The police in Chennai and Hyderabad, during the course of their investigation, did unearth a few things. According to police sources, Anjali had a conversation over her mobile number with a Tamil actor and a film journalist working in a Tamil newspaper on Monday. A senior police officer said Anjali had received two calls from Chennai after she left the Daspalla Hotel. She had conversed for about 54 minutes.

The police have formed two special teams, comprising senior officials, and sent them to Bangalore and Chennai as part of the investigation.
