The body of Soram Bodi (52) of Malda district in West, who was killed in the derailment of Muzaffarpur-Yashvantpur Express at Chitheri in Vellore district on Wednesday, was taken to his native place in the Bangalore-Guwahathi Express at 10.30 am from Arakkonam Railway Junction.
Two employees of the railways department accompanied two of the relatives of the deceased, who were also travelling in the train.
The department has also made arrangements to transport the victim’s body from Howrah to his native village in Malda district. The officials would also hand over ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased.
The injured passengers, who were admitted in the Government Hospital in Arakkonam, were discharged on Thursday. Special arrangements have been made for them to reach their respective destination. One person was killed and 33 injured after 11 coaches of the Muzaffarpur-Yashvantpur Express derailed on Wednesday.
