Link Aadhaar with bank accounts, LPG users told

At a meeting organised to review the performance of the financial inclusion scheme, Swabhimaan, domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) consumers, having bank accounts, were urged to link their Aadhaar numbers with their respective banks to facilitate the implementation of direct transfer of subsidy for domestic LPG cylinders.

At the meeting chaired by V Shantha, zonal manager of the Indian Bank, Puducherry zone and convenor of state level bankers committee- Union Territory, it was decided that the consumers be advised to link their Aadhar number with their bank accounts so as to avail of the benefits of the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme.

At the meeting it was also decided to organise a special campaign in all the bank branches to create awareness among the account holders for the purpose.

The consumers, who had bank accounts were requested to submit a Xerox copy of their Aadhaar number intimation letter to the bank branch concerned for seeding purposes.

At the meeting it was informed that the account holders could send a copy of their Aadhar numbers through post to the bank branch concerned or to the lead district manager, Indian Bank, zonal office, 10 Kamaraj Salai, Puducherry 605011.

Those consumers, who did not have bank accounts, were requested to open accounts with any bank of their choice and ‘seed’ their Aadhaar numbers with it.
