Gandhian route for development

Former vice-chancellor of  University of Madras, Professor S Sathik, exhorted adoption of Gandhian principles for good governance and sustainable development of the country. Speaking at a two-day national workshop, organised by the Centre for Gandhian Studies of the Pondicherry University, he said the younger generation must be made aware of the relevance and feasibility of the Gandhian models.

 Academicians from various parts of the country   participated in the innovative workshop to develop alternative models for good governance and sustainable development in the Indian context.

Professor S Muthukumaran, former Vice Chancellor, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchy,  stressed on the importance of  Gandhian principles in the social context of India.

Professor M Ramadass, Director of the Pondicherry University, emphasised that Gandhian model should be developed as a  workable and attractive one without neglecting the present economic order.

Prof P Moorthy, director of the workshop, welcomed the gathering while Prof N K Jha, dean of the School of social sciences, presented the felicitation address.
