Ice vendor arrested for abusing child

An ice-candy vendor was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl.

Police said, G Thangadurai (38), a native of Kamarasavalli village in Ariyalur district had settled in his wife native village located near Kabisthalam in Thanjavur district few years back, and had taken to ice-candy vending business. On Wednesday evening, Thangadurai, said to be in an inebriated condition, lured a four-year girl child of the same village with a chocolate, and allegedly sexually assaulted her in the backyard of his house.

The girl who was injured started crying and her parents immediately rushed her to the Papanasam GH and later to the Raja Mirasudar Hospital here.

Meanwhile, villagers allegedly tied Thangadurai to a tree and later handed him over to the Kabisthalam police.
