A Mega Lok Adalat was held at the Vellore District and Sessions Court on Saturday. A total of 151 cases were amicably settled during the Lok Adalat.
Retired Judges L H Krishnan, C Balu, V C Suresh and T Durairaj led the cases at four places inside the court premises.
On Saturday, a total of 542 cases were taken up, including 522 motor accident claim cases, 10 ‘dishonour of cheque’ cases under Negotiable Instruments Act and 10 civil cases.
Of the total number of cases, 151 were settled for a sum of `2.65 crore benefiting 239 persons. The settled cases include 136 motor accident claims, 5 civil cases, eight cheque bounce cases and two domestic violence cases.
Additional District Judge K H Elavazhagan inaugurated the Lok Adalat. Chief Judicial Magistrate M Gopal and Sub Judge M Pari were also present during the inauguration.
