Rajini fan club chief hacked to death

G G Ramesh, the Vellore Urban President of Rajnikanth Fan Club, has been hacked to death by a five-member gang, police said on Saturday.

Four special teams have been formed to probe the murder of Ramesh (45), who was brutally assaulted outside his office on Arcot Road here, they said.

Interestingly, several criminal cases, including attempt to murder, have been filed against Ramesh at various police stations here.

The victim, a resident of Saidapet, runs lodges, finance agency, real estate business, travel agency apart from holding the top post of the superstar’s fan club.

On Friday night, Ramesh was returning from his office when he was attacked. A team led by Vellore Superintent of Police I Eswaran visited the spot. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dakshinamoorthy said, “Eye-witnesses at the crime spot have confirmed that one Kuppan was directly involved in the murder, as many claim to have seen him running behind Ramesh with a knife on Friday night.”

Apart from Kuppan,  four other unidentified persons were reportedly involved in the crime. He said that four special teams have been formed for tracing them.

As a fall out of the incident, shops remained closed on the Arcot Road until noon on Saturday. 

Meanwhile, supporters and relatives of Ramesh gathered on the Arcot Road and sought action against the culprits. His body was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital at Adukampparai for postmortem.  To avoid undue disturbances, police have been deployed at strength in the area.
