Worker rapes girl for 2 months, held

In a perfectly planned operation, police on Monday arrested a 24-year-old construction, who allegedly kidnapped a class VIII girl of Kovai and raped her for the past two months.

Police said the accused P Perumal on the day of kidnap had offered to drop the daughter of neighbour at home in a motorcycle while she was returning from school. But the accused had taken the girl to a house near Gingee in Villupuram district and had kept her there for two days.

“Later, he had taken her to Bangalore and kept her in a house there for nearly two months. He used to lock the house door whenever he leaves for work. He had often sexually abused the minor during the stay,” said ACP Ramachandran.

The girl who left home for  school on February 5 did not return home after that. As Perumal also went missing from the same day. the needle of suspicion turned towards him, Ramachandran said.

Acting on a tip off that Perumal, along with the minor girl, was coming to the city on Monday night, a police team in mufti took position in Peelamedu. When Perumal reached the place, cops arrested him and rescued the girl.

The girl was produced in a court which ordered a medical examination of the victim.
