A 44-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances on the premises of a private bar in Puducherry on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Kannan, an employee of the bar and a resident of Murungapakkam.
Superintendent of Police (North) S Ramaraj said the cause of death would be known after the post-mortem report comes.
According to police, the man, a habitual drinker, took liquor on Tuesday, despite being a dry day on account of Mahavir Jayanthi.
Kannan’s body was found near the generator room in a pool of blood by the watchman of the bar. The deceased had injuries on his face, said police.
The Grand Baazar police have registered a case. Further investigations are on.
Jewels, Cash Stolen Burglars struck at a house in Ranga Nagar second street and escaped with 40 sovereigns of gold and `20,000. The house owner, Senthil Kumar (38), a businessman, was away on a pilgrimage with his family when the incident took place, said the police. Based on a complaint from Senthil Kumar a case was registered. Investigations are on.
