A partially charred body of a woman aged about 35 years, was found in Sithathur Eri in Chalazae police station limit on Sunday. Investigations have been launched to establish the identity of the deceased.

Preliminary enquiry by police revealed that the villagers had spotted the woman wandering with a man in the area, between 6 pm and 8 pm. The police also suspected that the woman’s throat was slit as there was a deep cut injury. The police found a thali and metti on the woman’s body.

The murderer might have been familiar to the deceased. “Once the identity of woman is established, the case will be solved easily,” a police officer added.
